Charles Hutchison

Born Charles A. Hutchison (sometimes billed as Charles Hutchinson), this pioneering serial star was renowned as the king of action serials, and was famous for his trick motorcycle jumps.
Born in the last decade of the 19th century, Hutchison attended Western University, then worked briefly for Marshall Field before embarking upon an itinerant acting career in vaudeville and stock.
He was still in his twenties when, in 1913, he made his movie debut with the Triumph Film Company. Eventually settling at Pathe, Hutchison directed and/or starred in such popular chapter plays as Hurricane Hutch (1919) and Double Adventure (1921).
